'Holiday Looks' Christmas & New Year's Eve Edition

Holiday Glamour!  Elie Tahari Halter Evening Gown.

Holidays are the time for over the top glamour and shine!  Rich gold and silver metallics with vibrant jewel-tones are perfect for this time of year and when making an entrance at that Christmas Ball or New Year's Eve party.  The goal is to look chic and elegant with a touch of shimmer.  When it's time to get ready, you'll need to make sure you compliment the festive surroundings.  That little black dress will need some gold or silver embellishments.  The dress shown above is by NYC designer, Elie Tahari and is simply gorgeous with beautiful rich gold flowers against a satiny background.  This particular design even has hidden pockets! I like to wear a gown like this with a light crinoline underneath which gives it a little lift and movement as it is floor-length. This is a generous women's Size 6 with a long back invisible zipper and very comfortable to wear.  Get more details about this Tahari ASL, Size 6 evening gown now HERE

The School of American Ballet's 2016 Winter Ball

A elegant evening of dinner, ballet performance and dancing at Lincoln Center
I attended The School of American Ballet's exquisite 2016 Winter Ball. The event took place at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater on Monday, March 14, 2016 and raised nearly $1.2 million. Legendary French jeweler, Van Cleef & Arpels of 5th Avenue sponsored the glamorous, black-tie dinner dance for the ninth consecutive year. The evening began with cocktails at 7pm and dinner at 8pm, followed by a student performance choreographed specially for the occasion, and The Encore dessert and dancing. The proceeds from the event enhance every aspect of the School's extraordinary ballet training program, including helping to provide $2 million annually in student scholarships, as well as supporting faculty, maintaining world-class studios and offering vital student programs beyond the classroom.

Rain did not daunt the Winter Ball attendees.

"SAB is grateful to our sponsor Van Cleef & Arpels, our wonderful event chairs and all the generous attendees for a successful evening, which raised over $1.1 million for the School's scholarship and student life programs," said Margie Van Dercook, executive director of the School of American Ballet.

This glamorous annual dinner dance was attended by 500 patrons, including the School's board members and alumni as well as leaders from the New York corporate and social communities.
Here are some of my photos from the evening which included an originally choreographed dance performance by the SAB students. I was told that last year the school gave away over 3 million in scholarships to deserving dance students. Sharing a dorm building with the Julliard School, the have four floors on site available for The School of American Ballet students.

Editor's Choice: Top Street Style Looks from New York Fashion Week 2015

Some of the amazing street style outfits of 2015 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, NYC
New York Fashion Week 2015 started off with sunshine, a gust of wind, clouds and then snow. Just like the fashion scene today. A mixed bag of textures and beauty. Here are some of my favorite street style looks from Lincoln Center Plaza.

So love this suede over the knee boots which were EVERYWHERE.

Impeccably done patterned fur & fox fur hat. Suede over the knee boots!

Loved the luxe faux fur coat and floppy hat with this outfit.

White faux fur with red stripes on the bottom. Simply works.
Crowds leaving the fashion show at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week building.
To me, the most interesting styles were on the street. Designers showing here at the MB Fashion Week Theatre and Salon today were: BCBG Max Azria, Costello Tagliapietra, Tadashi Shoji and Todd Snyder. Downtown, Timo Weiland's show was at Pier 59 Studios, 59 Chelsea Piers #2. Also Honor showed at Artbeam, 540 W. 21st. This fall-winter FW2015-16, look for high-heeled over the knee boots in suede. Faux and real fur (i.e. fox a la Joseph Altuzarra) isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Fur trooper hats are making a comeback, (did they ever leave?)

My tunic and white blouse are both by New York designer, Donna Degnan and made in NYC. Despite the temperature drop and snow flurries, I was incredibly warm and happy outdoors. The pockets and full lining and zip front are also a major plus!
