Season in The Hamptons: Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club

On the heels of Wimbledon try a relaxing day of tennis and surf in The Hamptons.

Bridgehampton, LI is one of my favorite spots in The Hamptons mostly due to the lovely little Main Street shops on Rt. 27 and the numerous private clubs in the area. While most people think of the clubs for evening cocktail parties, keep in mind that they offer much more in daytime activities such as boating, swimming, surfing, golf and yes, tennis.

What to Pack
Now while playing at a private club is quite luxurious (they tend to super-pamper you with lots of amenities), you are on your own for sunscreen and other sun protection. So be sure to pack at least a 30 SPF lotion for your body and another for your face. Also, wear a little visor or baseball cap for the courts. Most clubs do not require wearing all white as Wimbledon does but you may want to pack at least one all white tennis dress. This looks amazing on and off the court, especially for relaxing afterwards.

Hair Care is made much easier with it being tied back into a mid-pony of it's long. I like the new little Everyday & Active headband visors from Scunci. They are very soft and stay in place even on windy days. The visor itself gives complete sunblock and is cool to wear. Another item I've found is John Frieda's Sleek Finish Smoothing Comb. It has a silicone bar which instantly smooths dry, flyaway strands that tend to frizz in the beach humidity. Both can help your hair survive the sun and shore. Look for them at local stores like Target and Walgreens.

Getting a Jump on Your "Tan"
As it is still pretty early in the season, you may not have yet gotten your "glow on".  No problem. No need to show up on the courts or beach looking all pasty. Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs comes in some very realistic shades to instantly transform you into a bronzed beauty. I put on a glove and spray it in an open aired space.

The spray goes on very evenly without the blotchiness of other products. It's water resistant so there is little or no transfer to clothes. Just to be sure though, I wear dark black or grey skorts after applying. No one will see anything! Airbrush Legs has a bit of shimmer and sparkle so it doesn't look dry or flat.

A skort or shorts in a dark color will hide any potential airbrush tan transfer.

Tennis Jewelry
One of the things that I love about Bridgehampton is the breezy tree lined, shopping on Main Street, (Hwy 27). There are so many shops and I always like to see what they have in store for the season. Beach Me 
Now if you are also taking in the salty sea air on the beach or by boat, pack a beach bag with all your essentials: Swimsuit, dry bag, sunglasses, sunblock, a Hamptons Hat, insulated container of cold water, beach towel, a packet of jerky, etc.

I enjoyed a beach party at the club which included comfy chairs, vintage wine, a bon-fire and smores late into the evening. I simply took off my sandals for the beach and put them back on when going back up to the club. Perfect!

So my advice to you is to pack for the day's activities but also throw in a little black dress for when after the stars come out. That way you'll be able to take advantage of all the club has to offer and do it in style.
