Cool the Heat

Natural supplements and products that take the heat out of inflammation.

Summer is the time that we push ourselves a bit more with outdoor activities. Our muscles may not be up to the challenge, especially if we've not been hiking, swimming or cycling in a while. One of the main problems with muscle sprains and injuries is the burning and inflammation that accompanies them. If you already have this problem, i.e. arthritis, rheumatism, etc. then injuries can be far worse and take longer to heal. We have all heard of the RICE acronym: R=REST,  I=ICE  C=COMPRESSION & E=ELEVATION.  The ICE is especially important to cool inflamed muscles. Still there are some things you can do to avoid excessive muscle and tissue pain in the first place.

Seabuckthorn Seed Oil:
This natural oil is rich in OMEGA fatty acids and derived from seeds which thrive in the arid poor soil of the Gobi desert.  Seabuckthorn berries and especially the seeds are rich in antioxidants which have exceptional anti-inflammatory qualities.  Rich Nature Labs Seabuckthorn Seed Oil is harvested from the desert of inner Mongolia which is very pristine.  Additionally Seabuckthron Seed Oil has been found to be beneficial in regulating lipid profiles, increasing HDL, (high density lipoprotiens) or "good cholesterol".  Dosage: 4 capsules a day.

Topricin is a paraben free, odorless cream that absorbs quickly and completely. One of Topricin's active ingredients is Arnica which is amazing for bruises and sprains. Apply Topricin before your workout or activity and you may find yourself pain free when you're done.  Used daily, it keeps muscle pain at bay, allowing you to do more.

Harvested in Thailand and packed in Hawaii, Hilo Hattie's Crystallized Ginger is some of the best and most potent I've tasted.  Large slabs of natural Ginger have no bitter aftertaste and work more quickly than hard tablets.  Keep a few pieces along for trips as Ginger is also good for motion sickness and nausea.

Blue Green Fusion is also recommended for weight loss but fractionated blue green algae has a natural alkalizing effect on the body.  By moving your body's pH out of the acidic zone more into a less caustic level, tissues are spared the deleterious effects of inflammation.  Dosage: 4 capsules per day or 1/2 tsp of loose blue green algae powder.
