South African Vintage Wines

Coming on the scene and competing with some of the more established wineries of Europe, are those fragrant offerings from South Africa. I was invited to the Kaia South African Wine Bar, 1614 3rd Avenue, NY who specializes in South African Inspired Small Plates Seasonal menu, local Meats and Cheese. They offer Southern Hemisphere New World Wines, with a focus on South African Varietals and Craft Beer.

I've had Australian Yellow Tail, and the Wit (White) Sauvignon Blanc I sampled reminded me a bit of that.  Pictured below is the Red Jasper, Raats Family Coastal Region, South Africa 2010 which I had at the bar. It was so fragrant and delicious! I'm looking forward to trying the Creation Whale Pod next.
