Vincent's Legacy Furniture Outreach is a Community Blessing

Volunteers for Vincent's Legacy Furniture Outreach with one of their delivery trucks serving the community. "Helping to turn our neighbor's house into a home." This 100% volunteer-driven organization is now in its 11th year.

Belmar NJ: This week I had the opportunity to see a really amazing and much-needed local charity in action. Vincent's Legacy, (a special works council within the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Trenton Diocesan Council), offers home furnishings and household supplies to people in need. These could well be your neighbors in the areas of Ocean and Monmouth counties.

Vincent's Legacy Furniture Warehouse is well organized with well-appointed clean, and gently used furniture and household goods. The people served by this ministry are able to enjoy a true "home" as these items are delivered and set up for them by volunteers at no cost.  As the brainchild of founding member Margaret More, she began picking up discarded, curbside furniture in her neighborhood and storing it for charity. When her garage became too full, she enlisted others for help in the community.  Fast forward to today and you have a neat, strategized warehouse for all these donations.

Blessing of the Trucks for Vincent's Legacy took place on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021. Members and community supporters all gathered at Camp Evans, in Wall Township, NJ for the ceremony.
Here you see the local priest blessing the new, refurbished trucks used to deliver furniture and goods to clients.

Selective Seconds Furniture Store

St. Vincent de Paul Member and Spiritual Advisor, Mary Jo Mendoza and me doing some shopping at Selective Seconds furniture store located at 911 Main Street in Belmar, NJ.

Selective Seconds, is a non-profit furniture store located at 911 Main Street (Rear) in Belmar NJ 07719, (732) 894-9393. This cozy two-story space is operated by St. Vincent de Paul Society.  All proceeds from the sale of donated furniture and household items provide financial assistance to those in need. Really, there are some gorgeous finds there, (I have my eye on a round oriental rug). You need to go!
