Brits in NY Men's Fashion Experience at Trendy Soho House

Brits in NY received a warm reception at the Soho House
Meat Packing District, NYC: Soho House hosted The Great British Men's Style Experience along with Spindle Magazine on January 27 th. Cosponsored by Fashion is GREAT Britain & Northern Ireland and UK Trade & Investment, this event brought over several British Menswear brands which included skincare, accessories, fashion and items for home decor. Following this reception was a Trade Show the next day which many of the British designers were also attending. So here are some of the highlights and designers I got the chance to meet at this party.

MARCUS DE - I spoke with designer and owner, Miguel De Almeida of MARCUS DE Shoes whose shoes were on display at this event. He shared his passion for the art of making shoes which are entirely sewn by craftsmen and have Goodyear welted construction. Each pair of men's shoes goes through roughly 10-12 weeks of workmanship in Northampton, England before they are complete. According to Miguel, "The brand has grown organically with the help of loyal customers and credible publications." See the collection of handmade leather shoes for gentlemen at MARCUS DE online.

150 journalists, artists, designers, musicians, actors and models all attending this event at Soho House.
Soho House is one of the trendiest spots of the Meat Packing District in lower Manhattan. Although it has a notorious reputation as the murder scene of swimsuit designer, Sylvie Cachay on December 10th 2010, it is better known for it's member's only roof-top heated pool, which I visited. The decor is rustic with lots of heavy dark wood as can be seen here in The Vinyl Room. The DJ (see lead collage) was amazing and the music was just at the right level to allow intimate conversation.
Some notable attendees to this event included: The Manic Panic Team, Anne Vincent of Burberry, Alex and Dom from Haeckels,  Tom Smart Hats, STORY mfg, La Menta, Sarah Hellen, Miguel De Almeida of Marcus De, Eye Respect, Clara Martin, Duncan Browne of Johnstons of Elgin and actor Andy Peeke.
